About Us
Makao Peru, in the native language, means "Cacao del Perú." Our history began at the heart of the Amazon as an alternative project to coca leaf cultivation, with the aim of improving the living conditions of local farmers and working in harmony with nature. From our beginning, we set out to transform realities: where there were previously illicit crops, cocoa fields now flourish that bring prosperity and hope to entire families.
Over the years we have created a trade alliance based on fair trade, where cocoa producers are recognized and justly rewarded for the exceptional quality of their grains. We believe in the power of training and direct work with communities: "we work directly with the cocoa producers, whom we constantly train to select the finest grains and to make a select and high quality chocolate." This collaborative approach allows us to ensure a sustainable supply chain, maintaining environmental practices and strengthening the future of Peruvian cocoa.
Our vision of sustainability goes beyond chocolate: we seek to generate a lasting social impact, promoting equitable opportunities and involving new generations in the culture of cocoa. Today we tell our story not only to make known the best chocolate in the Amazon, but to invite you to be part of this chain of good actions.
